Door...Mixed Media Book

This is an accordion binding structure. I made it from cardboard and painted each scene. Alternating pages have a door cut into it that can be opened to view the inside scene.
Painted with acrylic, stamped, and distressed
Ribbon closure

Also...I've got a lot of new listings in my shop. So, head on over and take a look! This will point the way ---->

Books and Bits

Here's a few new books and a new mixed media painting. I have a feeling most of this will end up on Etsy. The Beasty painting already is....Have a look HERE. He was a inhabitant of one of my many sketchbooks until finding his way onto canvas. Hope you enjoyed the visit!

Mixed Media Paintings

Here are some recent mixed media paintings I recently finished. The bird painting is rather about 2 and half feet long and maybe 8 inches tall (I didn't measure). It's painted on a piece of leftover plywood from a project from Jacob.

The Dala horse is painted on recycled book board from a discarded book (and a leftover from a folded art book arts class I taught). It is currently for sale at my Etsy store. Check it out HERE!

But of these are some first attempts at making a mixed media painting. It was really fun and very "painterly"! I have plans to make some more. I'll keep you posted.

Thanksgiving is Thursday and I have so much to be grateful for this year. I hope you do too!

Girl, what you got goin' on--Art Process

Here is a process from sketching to painting. I started the sketching in the car on a return trip back from Huntsville. Most of my sketches start this way...random moments in time, images recorded while waiting, riding, relaxing before bed.

I have tons of sketchbooks and journals. I keep one or two with me always stuffed in my oversized purse....my purse sizes are always judged by how many books it can hold...anyway, I draw, sketch, record notes nearly constantly and then dig back through the layers for inspiration, paintings, and laughs.

I couldn't live without my sketchbooks and journals. When I was a kid if I went to my parents to someone's house and they didn't have books or paper I was appalled. What kind of people are they? No paper, no books! I quickly learned to carry my own. It's a quirk that I won't apologize for...and my husband will just have to get used to my huge, heavy book filled purse. After all, I have to carry his books, too! :)

And you can buy this original painting here. So, go on have a look....

A world of change...

Recently I have been given a wonderful opportunity to focus on selling art and books. This has been a wish of mine for far too long and the universe has provided this opportunity for me! I am extremely thankful for this time and opportunity and I will also have the opportunity to focus more on this blog. That means more art, book and sketchy goodness for you! So, here are some things that have been keeping me busy lately...some paintings and some journal pages that I've recently done!

I've also updated my Etsy page with new books and....ORIGINALS! Selling originals is a first for me. I'm really excited and pumped about the possibilities...! Yeah!

Here's looking to a bright and happy future!
