And Summer's just begun...

Here are some random new paintings...
The rabbit is my new favorite....
The tree is not crooked, I am...
Sorry about the tiny flower photo but my flash decided to eat it if it got any closer....

So, what have I been up to lately?

Well, cooking camp was last week and I learned to make tarts, crepes and other various cream cheese filled goodies...alas, I did not take any photos, but take it from me they where delicious!
I also went to the Bluebell factory (free ice cream, but only if you can stand me singing the theme song like Cartman the entire week!), California Pizza Kitchen in B'ham (they give an awesome tour by the way!), Whole Foods Market and a Farmer's Market. And I sold my sacred heart book on Etsy! Woo-Hoo! And it is now on it's way to it's new home in Rhode Island!Whew!

Today I tie-dyed 10+ t-shirts, taught kids how to fall without breaking themselves. And......I learned to walk on stilts! And today is just Monday!

So......(and in no way is this meant to be condescending)...what did you do today?

My it's been busy....a little glimpse of life in the past few weeks...

  • Gutenberg press demonstrations (as shown)
  • bookmaking
  • traveling all over Alabama (Horton, Guntersville, B'ham, Asbury in one week)
  • spring cleaning
  • concert going (Flying Monkeys Cigar Box Festival and Pawsapoolza--Buddy made front page in the newspaper!)
  • movie going (Star Trek...very good, I love you, man...okay, UP......Wonderful!)

  • life in general
So much to do and so little time....I'll try to be more forthcoming in the next few weeks.....lots of stuff to show! Paintings are going in a new and fascinating direction.....for me anyways.... But I'm having fun and I hope everyone else is too!

Happy Books!

This grouping of books makes me so ridiculously happy that I just don't know what to do with myself....the little fish book especially makes me grin! He just doesn't know how cute he is.

Tell me what you think. These guy's will be for sale at First Friday coming this Friday........

I don't know about the little fishy guy though....he may have to live with me!

Four Books and a Horse

Here's some new stuff. My favorite is the book with the painted trees. I did that painting and didn't like it so I cut it up to make a book cover and I love it immensely now. I also like the new stitch I've learned....the two books on the right....it's called Celtic Weave from the book by Keith Smith...and I love it, love it.

So, leave me some comments, tell me what ya think....but above all....Have a great day!

Surprises!

Here are a few wonderful surprises...In our forays into Priceville, Al (to support my Dad in his horse class trials) Jacob and I wandered into what a first appeared to be a very frightening used bookstore....well appearances were indeed deceiving, because this little bookstore proved to be a treasure trove of sorts. The top pictures are of the Charles De Lint book that I found...first edition, signed and numbered! (got to get that sticker residue off though!) I also found The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury (a rare title) and several other treasures. Jacob found several prizes of his own....so all in all, a very rewarding endeavor.

Also in this post are pictures of my newly constructed book sewing frame (with a project on it).
This was made by dear Jacob (assisted haphazardly by yours truly) So, very soon there'll be all sorts of new book projects to show.

Enjoy!

First Friday!

Here are some pictures from First Friday! Jacob and his instruments were a real hit! He was even on the front page of the newspaper! Check it out!
